Choreographic Process

Today, I had a rehearsal for my final choreography whilst at University. This rehearsal consisted of creating movement for the live sections in the performance. My choreograhy, which is in progress, represents fear of the unknown. I want the audience to recognise that fear surronds humanity everyday, it does not only exsist in our phobias.

My choreography makes reference to Graham's 'Lamentation' through costume and the use of plie. I chose this to relate to my work because I believe that fear surrounds us day to day, therefore, by having my dancers in sheets, this will be a visual representation of a person dealing with their own fears and not allowing the fears to take over a human life.

In the rehearsal process we discussed creating this as an installation rather than a live performance. This will allow the audience viewing the installation to see a film performance compared to the live movement. We also developed the movement created to represent 'Lamentation'by Graham and how this an be used in the live performance.

This is a work in progress, will keep you updated.

Lauren
